TWO STOREYS PENTHOUSE Monza 2006
The client asked us to make a restyling and interior decoration project for a penthouse, part of an old farm-house, previously transformed in a residence .
The bulky irregular structural wood beams , the typical leaning roof and the wood floor gave a strongly traditional and “romantic” atmosphere to the house, far from the male tastes of the client.
Our project followed a contemporary and metropolitan inspiration, matching design pieces chosen from the market with furniture tailor-made designed, to create useful containers and to hide technologic elements in sight.
At lower floor, by the entrance, we designed a dark wood wardrobe and on the side of it a backlit mirror with a small drawer where put keys and sun glasses; next to it there is a small living with four dark-brown leather Citè armchairs designed by Jean Prouvé in 1930 and produced by Vitra.
Next the warm grey painted wall in the background, there is a very essential low Zanotta furniture and two white glass lamps “Atollo” designed by Vico Magistretti.
In the dining area we selected the Less table designed by Jean Nouvel, Mies Van der Rohe’s white leather chairs, and a DePadova lamp.
Kitchen furniture , bespoke designed and realized , is polished white with some steel details.
Master bedroom has an ice white leather bed and a wardrobe custom designed and finished with bright white polished wood and light grey coloured glass set-in.
In the child room, the writing desk and the furniture are designed to be things to play with: the coloured sliding doors, moving like big puzzle’s pieces, hide or show objects behind them.
Stair shape has been redesigned using white polished wood panel to correct its previous irregular aspect. Upstairs is the real core : a wide penthouse surrounding a terrace.
Here a big sofa by Zanotta and, in a more intimate space, a relax area, where is a big round bed by Redaelli next to a changing colours lamp by Artemide to match atmosphere and moods.
